Default What am I?

I purchased this banana plant as a dwarf cavendish a few months back and took this picture about 3 weeks ago. It's grown quite a bit more since then. To me it doesn't look like any other DC I've seen whether in pictures or in person.

It's a Musa acuminata variety 'Zebrina'. There are a few look alikes but this one is the Zebrina also called a "blood" banana.

Thank you for the swift reply. This is my first banana plant and not the variety I was expecting. Big box store had these completely mislabeled when they were rather small. Time to do a bunch of research as I know nothing about blood bananas.

It is a desirable ornamental banana but does not produce edible fruit. It will make a nice small grove and will not be too tall. should be an easy grow for you. It might need to be mulched over winter so the underground corms will survive and re-sprout in spring but Ocala may be fine without mulch. It may even not freeze to the ground there.
