Smaller novelty types. This seems to be the top 5, but I have also seen other varieties also for sale near the Treasure Coast. https://www.walmart.com/search/?query=banana%20plants Last edited by cincinnana : 09-16-2016 at 12:53 PM. |

Re: I bought a foliage plant at Walmart
Wine stains are the description of the burgundy(wine) color of the leaf.
Some plants show similar coloration only when young but I cannot accurately recall which ones. This leaf is of a small Siam Ruby . The underside of the leaf is a deep purple. The plant is a great accent plant with that nice foilage Untitled by Hostafarian, on Flickr Last edited by cincinnana : 09-16-2016 at 01:18 PM. |

Re: I bought a foliage plant at Walmart
I got back from the WalMart at Tallahassee/Bradfordville. They did have banana plants. These were labeled as Dwarf Cavendish @ $8.77 each. These plants were in BAD shape. The pots were bone dry; leaves dropping & broken; and I could see several pots where the pups had died. But the pots I picked, up the pups were almost as big as Mom. One pot Mom had died, but the 3 pups were as big as all the other pots.
You guys are going to shoot me. I asked for a department Manager to see if these distressed plant could be discounted. One wasn't available. I was sent to the Customer Service desk to ask for the Manager there. She stated she could only allow !0% off. Then punched buttons on the registrar and stated the plants would be $6.77/ea (hum ... more than 10%) and told the clerk. I had 3 pots and decided to get one more pot. The clerk ring up 4 pot for a total of $32.??; I handed her my card; she punched a couple of buttons and I saw $12.00 on the display; the display when black; the clerk gave me the card back for me to put into the terminal; I pulled out the registrar slip to see the total charge & debit was $12. I just said THANK YOU to the clerk & she smiled. .... nuff of my rambling ... pictures Banana Heads, check out the Florida WalMart stores to see what Banana plants they may have. |

Re: I bought a foliage plant at Walmart
These plant are so dry. I have them setting in a tub and I'll be flooding them to night and tomorrow and giving a little miracle grow. Then I'll re-pot.

Nice and green, no dead leaves all over, you did good... Be careful to not get root rot started with too much water.

What it seems I actually have: Brazilian, Cavendish, Namwah, Dwarf Red, Gros Michel, Pisang Ceylon, Veinte Cohol and SH 3640, and American Goldfinger. FHIA 1, Paggi and FHIA 17... Always room for one more. |

Re: I bought a foliage plant at Walmart
morning update:
I have watered the pots 4 X's and very little water in in the tub. The plants were sucking up water like crazy. Most of the leaf wilt is gone, so the roots are in good condition. ... I'll water 3 or 4 X's today and re-pot tomorrow. ... There are 17 plants in the 4 pots! picture: Last edited by edwmax : 09-17-2016 at 09:19 AM. |
