![]() I remember seeing something on Ty Ty's web page once about one of their made-up-name bananas, and how it's leaves turned a beautiful yellow color in the Fall (and how I laughed about it!). Well, my Musa sp. Yunnan (which is what I'm going to call it until somebody definititively names the thing) just decided rather suddenly to start changing colors! Weird, because just a little over a week ago, it was completely green. Here it was on Oct. 11th:
And a few days ago, it looked like this: Nice Fall foliage...eh? There are more yellow leaves on the other side too. Weird. |

![]() Most of mine are doing this. As I’m new to bananas I thought this was just normal from the cool temps we are getting at night. My plants are much smaller then yours and in pots, so thankfully it’s just the lower leaves doing it. I was not worried about it since I will cut the lower leaves off when I store them anyway.

![]() Jane, I suppose it probably could be a response to cooler temps. However, none of my banana cultivars in the garden have any yellow leaves, so it might be specific to certain species/cultivars. Then again, it could be a nutrient issue, only now manifesting after cooler temps. Oh, what do I know, lol! I really have no idea, I just thought it was interesting.

![]() That is interesting!
Our Fall here consists of Santa Ana winds breaking leaves. I much prefer the color change! ![]() |

![]() I think the yellowing leaves in the picture is mainly just a response to the cooler temps. Mine do this every fall.
