Banana ID Please?? Newbie alert!
Hello! I live in South West Florida just miles from Siesta Key. We recently discovered (Dec-Jan time frame) that we have banana plants!! My only knowledge of them comes from googling like crazy, making sure I'm taking care of them... I will post pictures of fruiting with flower and current state (my hand for size reference in newest photos) Helping to ID would be great...and also any tips... I have a nice cluster that now keeps popping out new pups and suckers like no ones business.. new leaves growing weekly.. and I have a loner plant directly across the yard, doing great on its own and has new pups and a sucker.. tips on how many of them to keep, should I space them out more, should I remove any of them or any old corms, etc.. Thanks so much! Looking forward to learning more! more pictures in gallery thanks !!! :-) Last edited by mearabearr : 05-14-2021 at 04:34 PM. |

Burro banana, aka Orinoco.. some like them full ripe, some like to cook them when green.. they have a triangular shape to them and racks are usually pretty sparse like yours. i know a mexican guy that eats them every day ripe or cooked.
