Default Another "is this a blue java fraud?" thread (no fruit or flower yet, or maybe ever)

Hi all —

Last year I purchased what was marketed as a blue java banana from https://www.fast-growing-trees.com/p...am-banana-tree. I have been very happy with it and been growing it inside in my living room.

However, after reading another thread about FGT, I have learned that they have been suspected of selling dwarf namwah's as blue javas.

I was wondering if anyone could help me identify it. I have read enough to know that it is an imperfect art without any fruits or flowers. But I figured I would ask.

What the pictures don't show: when new leaves emerge, they have a reddish undercast on the leaves (which I understand suggests Namwah); also, my plant has long had a fairly significant lean (which I understand suggests blue java), and the leaves do appear somewhat blue/silverey compared to some others.

Here is a photo gallery of my plant, don't mind the mess: https://imgur.com/a/wgX7h3b

Not easy to tell at this point. I would just assume its a namwah to be honest. It wont matter what it is if it never gets fruit anyway. I would just enjoy the plant.. it looks healthy.

When it fruits you will know or at least you can get an ID from someone who does know. namwa/dwarf namwa and blue java all look very similar up until maturity and fruiting ages.

I agree with Smeash and MMF however it could be a tall Orinoco. I don't see any sign of red and the the plant is very green with a lot of powder. Doesn't look like a dwarf either (not stocky). Looks happy and healthy!

I got a " blue java" from FGT last year to. I 100% believe it is a tall namwah . I have a BJ from larry darkman right next to it. The lean is so much more.. neither have fruited het. Similar heights tho
