Hello to all my banana freaks, tell me why I have to cut the tree all the way down to ground after the tree has fruited. Why can't I cut it halfway down?

Whaaat!.....Banana freaks!........It’s your choice!.....You can cut it all the way down to the ground or just halfway!....Some members prefer to cut it halfway down, so the remaining old P-Stem (trunk) provides nutrients to the emerging pups!.....

I prefer Banana Head...

You do know that once a pstem produces fruit it has served its purpose and it will die and rot.
I cut those pstems down and grind them up for mulch
It's your nana you can do what you want

I've been watching too many YouTube videos and one of my pstems I dug up then cut into pieces then planted in potting soil. Hoping each piece would sprout, have you ever tried this?

Hello , once the nana has produced, its purpose for existence has been halfway fulfilled. Its adviseable to cut it down about 15cm from the soil with an insertion so as to destroy the psterm. This will give rise to more and healthy planlets. Curting halfway goes along with too many risk aswell cuz if the psterm isn't destroyed, it might shot again and will never produce. Also, young planlets wont sprouts well and will be accompanied by retarded growth.

and how do you know this?

I had bananas in the 80's and had them come up the following year after cutting them down for the fruit. been asking that question for years.
