Hi all. I just planted 10 banana plants, of these varieties: Sweetheart, Truly Tiny, Dwarf Cavendish, Lady Fingers, Raja Puri, Grand Nain, Misi Luki, and Rose. I'm looking for a Blue Java in the West Palm area.
My favorite is the sweetheart. ![]() |

I tasted it for the first time this weekend, and it was so different from Cavendish... creamy and custardy and ... more fruity somehow. I'm enchanted by all the many varieties.
I'm lucky to live in SFla., so I can try ladyfingers, honduras bananas that have never been gassed, various types of plantains, etc. I'm really glad to have found you all. I hope to learn from your experience, and contribute information where I can. I also think it is really cool that is can be a plantain-type when green and an apple-like banana when ripe. My sweetheart plant is a corm, and it finally got leaves. We were sure it was dead, as it seemed dormant all this time.
