Lazy bananas
Hi People,
this is my first post on this forum, so first of all... sorry about my poor english. I have a question about suckers. This situation is happening with my Helen's hybrid & Sikkimensis: Mother plants are producing suckers, witch won't grow. They emerge from the ground, and stop growing, when they are 2-3 cm high. What could be the problem, and how can I activate them ? Thanx Tom |

Re: Lazy bananas
Welcome, Tom!!
Your English is great! Just relax, because you are among great friends. Where are you located? It would be great if you can post pictures of your plants. It's very hard to give a recommendation on what's wrong with your plants without pictures. Chong |

Re: Lazy bananas
I live in Croatia, near Zagreb. Official zone 7, but last few years in zone 8
I will send you pictures. In the meantime, bananas are 2 years old, spent last winter in the attic, about 2 meter high and generally in gooood condition (few wind-broken leavs only) All suckers from the spring are growing well, but summer babies are lazy, despite watering and feeding. Tom |

Re: Lazy bananas
Welcome aboard, Crawler ! You can find help on "water suckers" in the 5th thread of the "Main Banana Discussion" section. It's a Sticky thread so it won't be moved! Also, ya might wanna watch out for Dalmatiansoap (Ante). He can sometimes be found in the European section. He's a good friend of mine & he's from Croatia too!
Your English is great! I doubt I would do as well speaking your language. If you have any questions about using the forum, just ask. There are lots of friendly and helpful people here. Enjoy! |

Re: Lazy bananas
Welcome Tom , you communicate just fine so don't be shy. I agree with Eric that maybe Dalmatiansoap is a good resource for you.
