![]() Hi. I'm John, and I've recently expanded from just a palm dork to a palm and tropical dork and now I'm an aspiring banana dork. I'm currently germinating seeds of Musa Veluntina, Sikkimensis Red Tiger, and some mystery seeds from a seller who sent the wrong seeds and didn't think I'd know better. I've also ordered a Mekong Giant pup and a friend gifted me a Dwarf Cavendish. I've primarily been an indoor grower due to apartment life and, now that I've got room to plant outdoors I have to worry about the feral cats my family has been feeding for 20+ years now. I look forward to learning more from here and writing lots of really long posts with totally irrelevant stories instead of just getting straight to the point. I'm a regular on PalmTalk, and I'm more or less on an 8a/8b border in the middle of nowhere on the Mississippi/Alabama state line.
It's gonna look really weird seeing miles and miles of old growth oaks and pines and then just a bunch of palms and bananas and then more pines and oaks. I'm also going to ask lots of dumb questions, but at least I'll tell you it's a dumb question first. |

![]() Welcome to the Org
![]() The most common banana you'll see growing outdoors nearest to you will be the Bluggoes, and dwarf orinoco is part of that subgroup. https://www.crop-diversity.org/mgis/taxonomy?focus=93
