Default Hello from Tucson

Hello all! Thought I'd join finally after browsing often enough. I'm in sunny Tucson AZ, and currently have two little banana trees! They're both dwarf varieties, and about 7 months old. I know I have a nam wah and a cavendish, but my tags washed out so I'm not sure any more which is which. I think the bigger one is the nam wah though, since it's starting to get little red leaf edges.

They seem to be thriving so far I think! Probably could stand to be fertilized more regularly though, since I do want them to fruit. Any tips or feedback are welcome!

The one on the left could be a namwa (larger plant) and the one on the right (smaller with wine stains on the leaves) would be the cavendish. Namwa does not have wine stains on the leaves.

Good luck!

Howdy,
You’re plants look healthy.
Keep doing what you’re doing.
You might consider repotting them into double the size containers they’re in right now.
Especially before they start to bear fruit.
I like Miracle-Gro Nature's Care 32 Qt. Organic Potting Mix
Works well in Miami FL.
Good luck!

That's what I was thinking about the nam wah, thanks for the confirmation!

And I definitely need to hit the plant store and grab some bigger pails and more soil.

Cavendish varieties have wine stains - that's the shorter one. Namwahs have red mid stem and leaf edges. Both of these 'dwarfs' will grow to around 8 ft and namwah will grow a huge diameter pstem. Get bigger pots
