![]() Hello all, i was referred to this site by Richard on ourfigs site as he highly recommended the fruit fuel fertilizer.
I always wanted to grow bananas and maybe joining this forum will kick start that! ![]() ![]() I've seen houses with banana trees all over here but i'm sure they are homedepot/lowes types. Any recommendations for an inground, dwarf, super tasty and can handle houston's 100+ summers and humidity? |

![]() Welcome to bananas.org. Your Fruit Fuel fertilizer is on the way.
Nothing wrong with Home Depot/Lowes banana plants, just be prepared that they might not be what the glossy label says they are. If you decide on a particular variety, you may want to ask members here on the forum who have successfully grown and fruited their plants. There are quite a few members in your area like "hdyndad" a little North of you. |

![]() Welcome! We're just to the east in League City. I've had good success so far with Dwarf Brazilian and Blue Java from forum members, and I'm 1 for 3 with Gran Nain. Hoping to try out a couple more varieties whenever they're available! It looks like most of the 'cold hardy' varietals will overwinter here on the coast without much work.

![]() In about 3 hours north east. You will have great success! Some of my best ones are:
Namwa tall or dwarf Orinoco i like dwarf best The real blue java (90% sold are tall namwa) Musa Monthan! I’ve fallen in love with this one from India! From flower to ripe fruit in 60 days also! Amazing for a cold hardy ABB! Other types that work some years. Pome types like Brazilian Raja puri Saba and Praying Hands Iholena types Short cycle types like VC, Patupi, klui kluai, Pisang Mas, etc. Welcome!
