Hi there,
Here's some temperature data I dug up on Tucson: ![]() I would think you could grow a dwarf variety outdoors, under shade cloth for the 6 hottest months of the year. You would need about a 10' by 10' piece of 50% shade cloth, suspended about 10' or 12' in the air. For variety, I would choose Dwarf Namwa.

Thank you VERY much for your reply, Richard! Is Dwarf Namwa an edible variety? It grows well in a pot? What kind of mix and fertilizer is recommendable? I am sorry I am making so many questions, but it will be my first banana tree.. <=o)

I’ve found that my young pups get scorched in the MIami Sun. The last 3 -4 years progressively getting hotter.
Great idea. Building a shelter is certainly in my immediate future. Thanks |
