Hello! I’m new to this forum so bare with me if I don’t have this down yet.
I purchased a small ravenala madagascariensis as you can see in the pictures.
Currently I live in Portland, OR where the hardiness Zone is 8b. It obviously cannot survive the winter here outdoors (it’s August right now and our lows reach about 57f, in winter it can dip below freezing)
So right now, Just to be safe I bring it indoors every night (that might be excessive) I have had it for roughly a month now since I purchased it back in July and it has grown on the porch pretty well I’d say. Our day time highs reach the mid 80’s and even 90’s. I’m watering it regularly making sure it’s not over or under watered and fertilized it once lightly.
However, the warm weather is ending soon which means he will be indoors full time pretty soon.
Has anyone dealt with this before? I’ve grown bananas and a bird of paradise through the winter before indoors and was wondering if the TP needs similar or more special care?
I would appreciate any tips or advice! (Also is this the only TP physically in the state of Oregon?)
Thanks!
