I've made the icecream (added chocolate to recipe) it is a pretty good recipe. I like the part in the beginning where he has a bunch of pitogo bananas, freshly picked. Maybe someday I'll experience that.

No, in this one he explains about the ripeness of Cavendish, how to refrigerate to keep longer, and how to freeze them to make ice cream, how to make Tostones from Plantains, and how to make Bananas Foster without burning down the house!

Cool - two shows on Bananas. I knew I liked that show for a reason.

I still think the food shows should do more on the plantain -- tostones, tostones rellenos and maduros. Paula Deen had a segment in her Savannah in Havana show -- but for a food that is eaten by SO MANY DIFFERENT groups and which has such a RICH HISTORY dating back to -- well, I can get the details, as I've done lots of research on the plantain. There was also a segment on Bravo's Top Chef. Caught it strictly by accident. The judges didn't like how the tostones were cooked. Apparantly they would not hold up to scrutiny among those who know their toston. More TV shows and cooks should feature the plantain -- green and ripe. Hmmmmmm My mom was a great maduro maker. Thoughts?

I got a chance to see it. I try to watch Alton Brown's whenever possible. He always puts a humorous spin on everything.
