Those short fins are out there somewhere!
Maybe some surf fishing is in your future. FYI, I think your halibut spot at Scripps is closed now. You'll get em soon enough. |

Re: Surf Fishin and fish tale thread
Just to be clear it's not an app, just a mobile friendly version of the site with an interactive map.
Have you tried it yet Tony? |
Re: Surf Fishin and fish tale thread
Not a fan of the Bing map. F'ing thing won't slide properly. Edit: it doesn't slide, you have to enable the pan buttons.

This is nice ?
This page does not include information about the new network of South Coast MPAs in effect as of January 1, 2012. Information about these MPAs will be available on this page on or shortly after January 3. |

SMRC Doesn't this mean fin fish may be taken ?

Re: Surf Fishin and fish tale thread
The rules vary by area, not type. On the DFG site it doesn't even say anything about Scripps.
Look, the box is empty. California Department of Fish & Game, Marine Life Protection Act, Existing Marine Protected Areas in California: Regulations |

SPECIES PROHIBITED For Recreational Take
Under that column it says nothing. Does this mean there are no prohibited species? |

Re: Surf Fishin and fish tale thread
So I can fish for anchovies for my pizza ?
|
Re: Surf Fishin and fish tale thread
I think so, just don't "by catch" any halibuts.

Re: Surf Fishin and fish tale thread
I don't think keepers should be trying to enforce anything, they don't have any common sense and there will be problems

As you see the lines are not clear, there is no app that beeps to tell you when you've crossed a line, and some areas are different than others making it tough for fishermen and the watchers. I don't have any issue with them doing what they feel is right, but they better be careful! I've read some posts that are very inflammatory and even threatening. :lurk: |

Re: Surf Fishin and fish tale thread
When I was in Florida a Heron would follow me when I went fishing. He would stand about 6' behind me and when I pulled a fish up on the dock he speared it and flew off. Ever time I went fishing there he was behind me waiting to steal a fish.
