I woke up this morning and went outside for my early morning wake up smoke and walk though the plants and I almost walked INTO THIS. This was a spider web spanning over 5 feet between two banana trees. I quickly ran and got my camera to find a wasp had flown into the web. I watched for about 15 minutes as the wasp would free a leg, catch another over and over until the spider came out of hiding to wrap the tiring wasp, wait another five minutes, and eat. Thank God my cam didn't die until AFTER the spider had it's feast! Look carefully at the pics for the web and the specimens!
Just for refference, the wasp was a baby, only about 3/4" long. The first pic is kind of hard to tell, but it is the wasp. Wish I had a better cam that would have more easily focused on them. If you go to my gallery and click on the picture, you can see the larger image! at full size! Most of the pictures didn't come out due to focus, but these are in order of how they were taken! Hope everyone enjoys! |

Thanks, I think the 4th pic is the coolest as you can actually see the spider spinning it's thread around the wasp!!!! I walked out later and found the web gone and a new one starting to be built.
