Not banana-related, but I am dumbfounded at this!

So I got bored and decided to Google myself tonight. Typical stuff; a few new things, but then I saw this listing on Amazon for one of my books. I thought $80 for a signed copy of Patriot Act a few years back was price gouging, but $902.81 for a copy of the Workbench AR15 Project is insane! I know the value of art goes up AFTER you die, but I can still see my own reflection in the mirror. On a hunch (the cop in me), I looked that price up as a zip code, and it's in Los Angeles. I'm thinking it's a code of some sort. Seriously, I'm my biggest fan (after Dearly Depotted

), and I wouldn't pay anywhere near that for one of my books. It's literally 47 times the list price when it was in print. I don't know how to figure percentages, but that's a LOT of zeros! Any other thoughts/ideas on this idiotic price?

Humm ... pull a couple out of your stash and list them at 75% off; plus $100 if signed by the 'died' author.

LOL, I do still have a few left, but they go with a lower as a set. I still can't believe someone would try and get that much for a book.

Perhaps it is a listing with the collusion of Amazon where they are attempting to discourage anyone from buying it. The best way for them to do such a thing would be to have some sort of code in that specific listing, where the higher price is the first one or maybe even the only one shown, with the lower cost listings suppressed. It would only take a minor 'tweak' to make it happen.

People tend to think that authors make a ton of money off of their books, but my royalties up to 10,000 were only $.90 per book. I finally hit the top tier at 15,000 copies, and I think by the time Paladin shut down, I was making maybe $1.20 or $1.28 per book because the price had gone from $19 to $21. I think it was 10%, 12% and topped at 15%. For someone to do this, is repugnant.
