Mississippi and Alabama, including Mobile got clobbered pretty badly yesterday from tornadoes. In nearby NWFL just mainly rain and to the best of my knowledge only high winds and rain. There is supposed to be a frost tonight last I heard.

My temps in the day have been the mid 50's and in the morning it has been in the low 30's 58* / 35*

weve had one of the coldest winters here..:( bummer
was 5F this morning..geeesh.. enough already...
im so anxious for spring..i want to get my cold frame up and
get some lettuce,spinach started..not in this weather though..

How about your backyard Tony? I bet no one is growing bananas or passionfruit in Hemet!

My low was 38 last night, 36 two nights ago was the lowest of the year for me. The wimpy varieties (Cavendish and AA clones) have very yellow leaves, but they're not dead. Dwarf Namwah looks almost the same as in the middle of summer, just more wind shredded. The mat has two 16-hand bunches hanging right now.

My lowest temp so far this year was 34 last night. The plants are holding up well so far with just a little yellowing on older leaves. I have a bunch of DB that are turning yellow but it's difficult to harvest with a broken hand that's not in a cast or splint because I can't work with a cast. I'll have my wife help me this weekend. Tonight is supposed to warm up a little.

On a side note, The Urban Homestead in Pasadena lost their whole crop last night. Everything froze. Good thing I have this micro climate here in West LA.

The Hemet temps. are from someone growing both bananas and passion vines.
My lowest temp. was Saturday morning. My car was covered in ice. I threw some water on it and 10min. later it was frozen again :woohoonaner:
