Today I planted seeds from a Tikal sapodilla (Manilkara zapota). The fruit was large, the size of a mamay (Pouteria sapota)!

A very good friend of mine, may God rest his soul, planted a five acre grove about 2 miles North of my farm location, and it has been producing for over twelve years. I have many potted seedlings from the best cultivars that will be my future grove. They do well on the island but not as well on the mainland, this far north.

Today I planted another Papaya. I had given my mother some papaya last year. My brother planted the seeds & was alarmed by the palmate nature of the new sprouts. I asured him it was papaya. Now he has given it to me, so my fruit has produced a gift, full circle. May all be blessed in this season!

Landscaping never ends.
Pony tail palm, Variegated False Agave, 3 Heavenly Bamboo (which I was surprised to find out isn't really bamboo). Tomorrow is a huge list from herbs to flowers... (if my back and knees hold out) Gecko |

I potted up some Maui magic ee's, spider lily, and black magic ee's, dwf papyrus, and stuttgart canna for the ponds.
Yesterday I started a flower bed full of brugmansia, ginger, hawiian ti's, persian shield, shrimp plants, coleus, crotons, caladiums, hilo beauty ee's, variegated canna, decorative bananas, etc. It was going pretty good till it started pouring rain on me lol. |

Had a very nice spring plant swap with my local garden tropics club. Came home with 2 Fatsias, a Tetrapanax Steroidal Giant, a Rhapidophyllum hystrix to replace the one that got cooked this winter, some purple castor bean seeds and a white datura seed pouch, and other assorted plants. Got most planted before it started to rain this afternoon.

OK, I tried Googling "giant green aviritorum and came up with bupkis. What kind of plant is this? Inquiring (and juvenile) minds want to know. (Or did you put a giant green auditorium?)

Reverse planting - dug up all the medium orange heliconias that travel so annoyingly and saved the pink and white gingers, ready to revive the bed and fill it with non-travelling heliconias that won't strangle the gingers. Now off to look for tasty replacements which is a time consuming but pleasant task. Mark - if I find some nice stuff (technical term) I will save you a piece.

Senna multiglandulosa, Globeflower (Trollius x cultorum Lemon Queen), Wild ginger, Selaginella braunii (Arborvitae Fern), Salvia coccinea Coral Hummingbird, Caladium Betty Munson, plus a mess of bananas. I also potted and put in the pond a Lobelia cardinalis with purple leaves, a red stemmed parrots feather, and brought out my Thalia delbata (water canna).
