One of my horseradish is up!! I planted 3 but only one is up yet. It's one bizarre looking little plant!

Also, 14 yukon gold potatos are up, about half a dozen dahlias. I have glass gem corn seed to plant, but no space to plant it right now.

Wow I only wish I could find ones that big! Mine are branched but nothing like that.

I got my hands on a Nepenthes v.ventrata a huge scary man eating plant that terrifies my neighborhood kids, well not really. That is what everyone thinks about carnivorous plants or at least I did, am I the only one?


This was this morning and overnight it caught a spider and a fly, awesome!


If you look closer you can identify both the fly and the spider being dissolved by the enzymes of the pitcher. Kind of cruel but not really is just nature. The fact is we all have to eat something that was once a living thing. It does not matter if it was Lettuce, Pork, chicken,____ you fill the blank. (watch Discovery Channel for details)

So I went to my local Ace hardware to get a new breaker, and they didn't have it and I wandered out to near the nursery door and got nabbed. They used that "Hey, we have some plants on clearance..." tag to ensnare me. I always fall for it.

It filled the bed of my truck completely, where we needed to smuch pots aside to squeeze the last one in. There's Angelonia, Coelus, Agastache and blue salvia(my favorite).

I can't say how many of each yet, because the guy just waved a hand over each section of plants as we walked through the nursery.. "All of these... all of those here..." and then said he'd let me have ALL of them for $25. The Angelonia alone were marked 3/$10 so they would have been over $25 by themselves without all the rest.

So they aren't planted yet, but I'll be working this afternoon to try to get them all into the ground. And I still have to yank out some more grass in the beds, so I figure I'll fall over dead about 814pm.

Planted a Wonga-wonga vine pandorea pandorana 'snowbells' - all the nurseries up here has their plants on Fall clearance and I could not pass it up.......only $12 and over 6ft tall!

PURPLE DE ORO DAYLILY from Brecks company. I put it in a pot because I haven't had luck putting daylillies in the ground here. I'm supposed to have already gotten daffodils but they got lost in the mail.

first im from thailand and have a big banana plant here, i have two style bananas the first baby banana and cultivated banana, i have with the cultivated banana many problems , tree are not healthy anymore, and have inside trees in the middle a black spots ! can someone help me what to do ?

I planted (sowed,spread,shook out) about 300-+ sq ft of seven species of fern spores
in outside beds, and inside containers.
We'll see what takes(grows)for next year.

Athyrium, Dryopteris, Matteuccia, Onoclea, Woodwardia, Platycerium just to name a few .:woohoonaner:

Got brussels sprouts and cabbage plants and some violas. I've already planted the brussel sprouts. The rest will go in the ground when it stops raining. Or when I feel like it.

I planted three new bare root roses. I went to the place to get some wood, came out with roses and wood. Not too bad considering my normal inability to leave without new plants.

Also hacked off the dead plants(and dead leaves and pseudostems of bananas) in the yard and hacked my thumb at the same time. This new machete just wants blood every time I use it.

Planted horseradish cuts--36. Healed them off then read elsewhere I should have soaked them. Who knows? They'll be watered well in the morning. If I had ever had a patch that wouldn't die I'd be more optimistic that these would take.

Finally got 8 (5 white/3 red) sugarcane starts in dirt--got them from someone who'd soaked them then let them dry out so they may not happen. Stuck some cherry (not sure what kind) and orchid tree cuttings in a pot after dipping them in Rootone. I probably waited too long to do this but at least I tried. Next time I go where I'm going to be handed cuttings I'm taking filled pots and Rootone with me so there's no down time.

That fuzzy gray plant looks like Stachys byzantina (Lamb's ears). If so, know that it is not a forest plant but escaped someone's garden. Not hard to control but they do seed a lot. (There's a non flowering variety.) They're not pretty dried IMO but you can do so and use it in arrangements.

That wasn't my plan but was the result. I figure if just a smidge left in a bed can get you in trouble, some will grow. I didn't split thick roots; I did cut them to 1.5 to 2" lengths. I did split a couple of crowns. Everything I found discussed 6 to 8" pencil roots; these were thick but I could see "nubs" on them. (I didn't realize that commercial farmers lift the plants 1 to 2 times a season and trim to ensure fat roots--no wonder mine were always an alien looking mass.)

My grand experiment involved using 3x3 pots and burying 1.5 to 2"; all but the bud sections were placed horizontally. (Any clue how long I have to wait to see if they'll sprout?) No, I daren't put them in the ground where I am; if so, I would have planted them like fig branches in a trench then cut them apart between leaves after they came up. Kinda hoping very few take because I'm out of big pots and decent dirt so I'll be scrambling to find new homes for any that do. And then again I'm hoping for 100%.

We'll see....

Found something new! I have watched my friends and family's unsuccessfully (slow growth) with store bought bamboos, and only know a couple people with this stuff growing around their homes. If this bamboo can take NC weather, I want it!
The Question is: Will daily urination from my dog and I kill either?
1 type seems taller (12'-25') GREEN
other is shorter (7'-20') YELLOW
I don't really care to research this weed but I hope it grows!

Amethyst beans, Kiwano melon, Ananas melon, Banana melon, pepino melon,(I like melon!), bulls Blood beets(for dye), potatoes, blue sedum and red hen-and-chicks so far(in the last couple days).

Today I should get indigo, woad and tobacco seeds into the seedling trays.

I also got one of those carpets you roll out and water and it turns into lavender plants. I don't really believe it'll work but for $6 and lavender plants... I had to give it a try. Seems like it's drying out way too fast to grow, but... we'll see.

Edit: Also I put three types of sunflower in the ground and morning glories(3 varieties) into seedling pots.
