1- lilac Bell pepper
1- orange habanero
1- Jalapeno Pepper.

5- Strawberries.

This week I planted....
- Some Crocmosia bulbs
- A Hydrangea bush (it was in a broken pot outdoors during the winter, but was already growing lots of new leaves so I planted it out in the ground)
- (2) Crinum powelii bulbs (I think thats how you spell that)
- A pineapple lily bulb (it survived the winter outdoors, but wasnt doing well in its spot so I dug the bulb up and moved it)
- Planted an upright elephant ear buln
- Planted 2 camellias (Spring Blooming "Arctic Rose" Camellia and Fall Blooming "Long Island Pink" Camellia)

And thats about it for now! I'll have to post some pics soon. Spring is really here. Might get to 80F this week! Not bad for the first week of spring!

Yup! Although technically there is an "x" in there to designate hybrid: Crinum x powellii

Any fruit from this plant yet? I read they weren't supposed to do well in pots, but my neighbor gets hers to put out a few fruit. I have (Dr.) White Cherimoya that's been in the ground a year. It's starting to put out lots of flowers. Hopefully this year it will set fruit. I've been paying $4/lb for cherimoya at a local fruit stand -- the only place I can find them. Man, I can't figure out why this fruit isn't more popular! One of the best fruits in the world, for sure.

A ton of onions and i potted up garlics too. Mom bought spice and herb seeds and wants me to plant those too. and I planted 2 giant aloe plants and a spider plant.

Edit: The onions are large red onions, medium size early white onions, and extra large golden sweet onions. the garlic label just says early garlic.

Uff.. This was a busy weekend.
WE planted few square meters of beans, and also peas.
Few months ago we planted a whole garden of potato, over 300 meters.
Back then also garlic and Italian onion. Garlic has been killed 1/3 by wind and salt.
Now we have planted several lines of Croatian corn called /Pajdash/.
For this year we planted apricot, plum, pear, cherry, medlar, sorbus domestica, aronia melanocarpa... And also lots of palms and ornamental plants like Yuccas. :D :D

I planted a Devil's Walking Stick tree and its called Aralia Spinosa too. I put a big cutting in a bottle of water and it had long roots today so i planted it. It looks really kewl.

I planted an Indiana banana, a.k.a pawpaw, a.k.a asimina triloba. I have heard of the song "Way Down Yonder in the Pawpaw Patch," but I never knew what a pawpaw was. Since I've been into edible gardening, I decided to learn about pawpaws. Ironically, after researching pawpaws, I discovered a whole patch of pawpaw in my parents' back yard. Well, I got the shovel and dug up six of them to transplant to my yard. Pawpaws supposedly don't transplant well, but the robust plants from my parents' yard are doing fine.

That's pretty cool to find them like that. Paw Paws have a deep tap root so dig deep if you dig anymore up. Where are they from?

I don't know how they got there, and the pawpaws certainly weren't there when I was a little girl. My parents have lived in the same house for 40 years about 1 mile from the lake. A creek and many wooded, undeveloped lots surround my parents' house and neighboorhood. My theory is that these woods are the home to some pawpaws which grow naturally in this area (western NC). Probably some random animal or animals had a feast of pawpaws and then came to my parents backyard to relieve themselves. There is a 6-foot by 300-foot thicket that borders my parent's property where the pawpaw seeds germinated and made themselves to home.

I remember eating wild pawpaws that grew along the banks of the Potomac River in Maryland when I was a kid on fishing trips. I liked them, though I remember them being a little "funky".

I hope that they taste good. I can do without the funkiness. I can't complain though because I got them for free. Do they really taste like bananas/mangos? I hope so. I love these fruits.

I bet there are people here who could give you a better description of the flavor than I can, since it's literally been 3 decades since I tasted one. But I'd say some combination of bananas, mangos, and that funky taste you get in some tropical fruit (almost a cheese-like taste), is how I remember it. To my tastes, they were definitely not as good as mangos, but hey, you can grow pawpaws where you live and you can't grow mangos, outdoors at least! Good luck. Let us know what you think they taste like when you get to that point.

Today I finished my tomato plants which brings to me to 30-35 plants. I planted pie pumpkins for eating and blue pumpkins and miniature pumpkins for decoration. I also got butternut squash planted and that brings me pretty much to an end for the veggies. Oh wait, I forgot to put my cabbage out so will go out in a few mins. and try to get some of them done tonight.

One of my brother in Laws gave me some plants, a Hot pepper, something he called a Hobo, grown in the caribbean from south asia I think (still researching it) and a seedling mango from the awesome tree he has in his backyard, and a Genipa americana ( not to be confused with the fruit with the common name Genipa). :jalapenonaner:

I planted up 42 Japanese tree peonies of several species, 3 weeks ago in pots which were purchased from Van Bourgendien. They are all 1 year grafts, and taking off pretty fast. The latest pictures in the following blog are a few days old so they are already a bit bigger & greener.

They need very drained soil its in pebble gravel, perlite and course sand..

I have the shampoo (Pine Cone Ginger) and the circular (Spiral Ginger). Both do well here and make a eye-catching speciman. I'm trying to scatter them throughout the tropical "loooking" landscape here.

I'll have to check out the peacock.
