Glads are starting to bloom. After working in a flower packer/shipper as a teenager, I said I'd never grow them because they were a pain in the butt to load on a truck.

Nick, is that the actual color of the native soil, or have you amended? That's some dark, rich looking stuff!

That's the way it is naturally. In my backyard it is 28% organic matter. On my current farm it's a little sandier. My old farm was about 35% organic matter mixed with montmorillonite(sp?) clay.

That's the rich part of the yard. Closer to the house it gets sandy, and in other areas it is marl.
