My Gov. Mouton camellia is my first bloom this spring, closely followed by the star magnolia. The petasites are getting ready to pop.

Hi Howard,

why does this picture of your rose make me think of food?

We had one of our most sumptuous dinners in Vietnam in a palace-like setting in the old imperial town
of Hue at a price you would pay at Denny’s. Probably because we took pictures of the artful displays on
our plates, we were, after the meal, treated to a demonstration of how it was done:

The “rose” was, I believe, carved out of a radish and then the edges coloured with a slice of red beet.

The result. Well the rose is not quite as pretty as yours, but after all it is hand carved, - not naturally grown

Here is a shot of my meal. Notice: they do not starve you there for the sake of artful display

Best,
Olaf

Looks delicious and artful. My flower was of a camellia, however; it's a tad early for my roses.

OK, this is cheating, since this Dendrobrium orchid is in my windbox in the kitchen, but it's still beautiful.

This little chili pepper has blooms already. I rather it grow a little more before producing chilies. Sorry the pic is blurry the wind was blowing.

Chives are in there second year and are now blooming. They really smell great. I need to use them for something to eat.

The buds - before they open, are great in food. Try them in salads, in potatoes, in stir-fry, even on lemon ice-cream!

This one is called Windermere. It smells like a citronella plant and grapefruit zest.
