Here you go:
Passion Seedling 1

Passion Seedling 2

They look so similar they may be of the same type. We have a 1 in 6 shot, as the seeds you sent me are: Tripartita, Caerulea, Arida, Edulis, and Aurantia.

Thanks,

-Luke

Funny coincidence -- my last Fredericks just fell off the vine today. Won't have any more until late summer at the earliest.

I think it depends on size more than age. Probably two years. I've read that keeping it root bound will force them to flower

Whoa! Impressive. What is it? A hybrid you created, or something you got from someone else?

It is suppose to be p.tripartita var, mollissima.Could be a hybrid. This is a volunteer seedling from fruit from one of my plants.

That is a gorgeous flower. I don't know how different it is from the mother, but if it is different, you should definitely propagate it.

Want Them All 04-30-2012 05:45 PM

Re: Passiflora

Tony,

Which passion fruit is sweet? I planted mine for shade, and they've surely done their job, growing so fast, beautiful foliage, flowers, and fruits. They're sour eaten out of hand, but tastes awesome when made as juice (some water, sugar). I forgot the name of mine, but the fruits turn dark purple/black and fall to the ground, that's when I eat them (picked off the ground).
Thanks,

Wait a week or two longer to eat them, until they are really dark and a bit wrinkled. They will be sweeter.
