Howard

You can send wet,with fruit still on,in sealed baggie. Or scoop out flesh and seed and let dry, out of direct sun , for a few days .Either way is fine with me.

Pretty flowers. We have gotten some of the seed to germinate and hope many more will also. Bug, that got in through a tear in a window screen, got several of the seedlings. Oh well, they need to eat too.

Yes they really like the Caerulea.

Indeed, I've heard (here?) that there is a hypnotic in the flower that causes them to sleep or doze. I frequently find them asleep in my incarnatas. Both honeybees (the few that are left) and bumble bees love 'em.

What is the name of that one? Most of our plants are getting eaten up very badly and home we can save them. Will have to grow them in the screenroom under lights next time around. Looking good, keep up the good work.

Passiflora phoenicia. Ruby Glow most likely.This one is not self fertile.I have been hand pollinating them with another Passion Vine.The honey bees are not large enough to do a good job of pollinating,takes a Carpenter bee to do it.

The flowers on each side go with this plant

It seems that this is a year for the critters. Caterpillars, squirrels, rats, ants, you think of it and it is here. Been busy trying to get ahead and may have done so. Even got two cats to help out. The passi vines are getting eaten by butterfly caterpillars. Not only the passis but they completely destroyed a moon flower vine. With the daily rains neem oil is out and most other deterents so I just hand pick them when I can find them. Any suggestions for the control of the caterillars

Thanks Tony, It may be something that I can do to control my pests. It will require may applications since it is the rainy season and like a few minutes ago we got a "gulley washer". We hope that the grass seed stayed in place but whatever we need the rain. If I don't then I can forget getting any fruit. I can grow in an inclosed area but that would mean hand pollinating and not sure if I have that much time to spare. Maybe?

I mixed according too the label instructions . It;s pretty stick stuff so if you can get a few hours without rain I think you'll be good to go.

Nice! I'm starting some from seeds - Cotton leaf, edulis mix, and some noids. So far two noids and two edulis have popped up so far. More are starting to emerge, no cotton leaf yet.
I am browsing for seeds or cuttings - any suggested sellers or sites?

Tony, that is a basketball backboard your P. alata is growing on, right? Is that what backboards will be used for around the US this year, with the NBA lockout? I'm relieved to find that they have another purpose.

They passion vines would grow very well with all those lights inside the controlled environment. A giant greenhouse

Tiki, Tony is very generous and has a lot of varities. We were most pleased and surprised with what he sent us. We are looking around here for plants that have ripe fruit but it seems that they might not be real popular since we have a bad caterpillar problem. Going to see if my new friend has any ripe fruit and then I can repay Tony and if you want some let us know. The fruit is p. incarnata which I believe Tony uses for cross pollinating.

No seeds unfortunately. I planted a bunch and passed on the rest to a nice lady in TX. I'll check out that ebay site again - that's who I got my edulis mix from.

A beautiful collection of passion flowers.
Surely there an advantage for the very mild climate.

I have:

caerulea,incarnata,alata,phonicea,actinia,laurifolia,quadrangula ris,ligularis,holosericea,morifolia,amethyst,xviolacea,vitifolia ,
maliformis;

various hybrids,
including:
panama panama red and gold, pandora, etc..

Several were obtained from seed;
I have about a 25-30 as seedlings.

for the moment, the phoenicea, no,
yet done so blossoms.
There I have almost 2 years.
Maybe this year.
We'll see.
The alata from mid-October until January is literally filled with flowers.
Possess it, for about 5 years.
