I've seen that before on sale either at Costco or Home Depot but I thought I can not grow that in my zone for its tempt sensitivity.

I was thinking Kentia, too. Not a Phoenix, nor a Butia.

It would be a shame to remove it. Kentias are quite attractive and cannot be grown in many areas of the U.S. But of course it's your yard to make your own, and I'm a palm nut. You may want to post the picture at palmtalk.org for a positive ID. There are people there who would be glad to remove it for you and the palm would not go to waste.

I agree with Tony, but I do think we take things like this a bit for granted. They are in every Dr's office, Office park, Drive up Restaurant and Hotel entrance. Very basic plants around here. I'd probably do the same thing, since a Kentia doesn't produce anything... lol

Cold HardyPalms lists Kentia as zn 9b-11, recoverable damage at 25 F. Queens palm, Syagrus romanzoffiana, is listed the same way but has been planted along the north Gulf Coast for several years now and so far I've seen no damage here in 8a/b. I found some Kentia at Target, but at 40$ for a knee high 3 gallon pot I passed. So far nothing at Lowes or Home Depot.
