Picked up a few of these borders to create a raised bed. This side of my yard stays a bit wet (clay). I'm running out of room so I need to get creative. Definitely dug out the grass (VERY thick grass) under what I have there now and will on the rest of it. I just wanted to get the orinoco from Valor X in the ground as it's wanting to roll. It's going to take a lot of soil but should really do the trick.

Nice! Those are pretty slick borders you've got there, its a good look. Did you make those or are they a commercial product?

Looks like a good start! I didn't bother to dig anything out of mine, but I did put a thick layer of newspapers down to act as a barrier, and went up the sides a bit too. I did get a few errant blades of grass poke up here and there, but for the most part, it kept everything at bay with almost zero effort or cost.

They're eucalyptus which should last a little longer than yellow pine, but we shall see. I bet they go at least 3 seasons.

New growth eucalyptus has a little of the volatiles in it, but it grows so fast that the grain is too soft to make much of a difference. It does smell nice though. On a side note, has anyone ever gone through that eucalyptus forest on the way to Muir Woods? It smells amazing!
Anyway, if my beds don't last very long, I'll replace them with Trex. It'll cost more, but with lumber prices like they are at the moment, I don't think it will be too noticeable. We need to do something about all of this inflation! ![]()

Any update on this? I'd love to see what it looks like now
This looks way better than my regular plain 2x10 raised beds lol

Ha she will not play around the house so I'll have to rely on fertilizer 😀. And thanks she's become quite popular around Charleston, starting to do more events, parties, etc. Too. She really is making great money, fully paying for college as she goes. Let me know if you ever get here maybe catch a show. |

I just picked up another 15 gallons of that "swamp muck" on the side of the road. Isn't there a place like that in your area?
