I’m growing in zone 9A Louisiana and usually get a frost around mid November. How many weeks before winter should I stop feeding my plants ?

Depends what you are feeding. I use the Fruit Fuel and don’t feed in the month with actual freezing temperatures. The high potassium in it promotes stronger plant cells and subsequently helps protecting the plants from frost damage.

My last application is October. I use urea, potassium sulfate, and grass clippings. I fertilize March- October i.e. 8 months.

I live in Baron Rouge and I agree about depending on what fertilizer you use. For exampl I use organic granular fertilizer than I won't go any further then October but if I use liquid fertilizer I can feed them even in November (1st week). Please keep in mind I always try to look at temp forecast. Hope that helps. |
