Hi, I brought a banana plant the other day and now the bottom two leaves have gone crispy and brown. When I got it, it was I a pot outside the shop in 8°C and the soil was bone dry. I have watered it once since I have got it and the water is damp but not wet. When I got it some of the leaves edges were brown also. I have now brought a specific fertiliser for it which I am going to use in the next watering but I was just wondering if there is anything I can do to help it for now?

Probably water stress (dry). Posting pics helps a lot with diagnosis and the more information you can provide (location, climate, size of plant/pot, variety, etc) is always better than less. Make sure the soil drains quickly, keep it moist not waterlogged, And I would consider bringing it in overnight until temps are better than 10C. If it is actively growing then you can fertilize it, lots of fertilizer info on this site including the wiki, so I won't belabor that. Keep it in a bright spot during the day, most bananas like all day sun but not all, and black pots in the sun can get hot quite quickly which can stress plants as it may overheat the roots. Most bananas in pots, unless very big pots, will only maintain a few leaves, so lower leaf die off is normal as long as they are being replaced by new leaves.
Most likely it will be looking right as rain very soon. Good luck and keep us posted.
