Set the gin pole on the deck. Then I think a 12 or 14 ft 4x4 can then hoist over the railing. The T-section on the bottom of the gin pole (above link) spreads the load over the deck & joist.

I was thinking from the ground. that would work with the proper bracing.... believe I would run a line from the top of the gin pole to the peak of the roof of the house.

just 12 and theirs a 36 in gate in the rail for an Ariel walkway that hasn't been installed yet
still kinda scary though hate to drop it not sure if the skid steer will go high enough or not if not I will go as high as the skidsteer will lift and then finish with a gin pole and as many gorillas as I can round up Last edited by obdiah : 10-01-2017 at 06:08 PM. |

But if you have access to a lift truck or 4 big dumb kids with strong backs (local high school line backers), then it should also be no problem. Just sit back drink beer and watch em work. Last edited by edwmax : 10-01-2017 at 06:56 PM. |

I've been needing a lift pole around the barn & property. So in the next week or so I'll be building a similar gin pole with a 4x4x 12ft to lift loads (1000lbs +) of my trailer.

just get some soil out of the hill side and make you a ramp. about 3 ft should do it. the skid steer should go up about 8 ft. by itself. or start back about 20 ft. and push you up a ramp. straps will hold it to the bucket till you get it up. then put your soil back with a little grass seed. wouldn't take 15 minutes here in fl. but yalls clay up there I don't know.
