ill just cut some petioles off and slice the pstem a bit

Nothing. That's just the way it's going to be. You'll probably still get fruit. They'll just be a little squashed. Trying to do something to improve the situation will almost certainly make it worse.

I cut off the top 2 petioles and sliced them down the side a bit
