I finally put my potted SDC banana outside. It's been a houseplant for around a year. I was going to put it in the sun, but noticed the tag on it said bright shade. So I put it under an umbrella. Can I gradually move it into the sun or should I keep it out of the direct sun?
And as long as you're reading (thanks!), the pseudostem on the thing is about 18" and it has a pup about half that. Should I remove the pup? It's a good-size pot but not a superpot! Thanks! edit: by the way, I'm z6, MI |

My SDCs are doing OK in direct Florida sunlight, so it shouldn't take too long to acclimate yours. Personally, I let each corm have 3 pseudostems, and remove others when they look big enough to plant on their own. Usually that is around 3', but probably 2' w/ SDCs.

Full sun in San Diego has been fine. Butif it was a house plant, start with some partial shade and work up to full sun.

My SDC is approximately 4 foot tall, and on the south side of our house close to the house. Temps here have been mid-nineties+ for awhile now and it is growing very well.
