Apologies in advance mods. I know this section is about growing bananas and not about other personal issues. The reason I have brought this up on the main forum is I have been ripped off $570 by Rene Alayeto aka Greenie, 3132 SW, 16 Street Miami, Florida 33145, he has been a member on bananas.org since 2006. I dont want another forum member getting ripped off by him, he is deceitful con man.
I have made many friends across the world and especially the US thanks to bananas.org over the years, people who shared the same passion as myself. I have received many banana plants in that period and a big thank you to all members who I asked from and received. Just to refresh everyones memory new members and old, Rene had the Ae Ae project back in the day. I have been after Musa Red Kru now for about 9 years. In 2022 Rene contacted me if i managed to get hold of Musa Red Kru. I told him I'm still searching he said he would try to get one For me as he grew them in the past. In 2023 he managed to get Musa Red Kru. I told him to grow Musa Red kru and send me a pup in May 2024. When May 2024 came he asked me to send send 2 x rare roses worth about $70 for Musa Red Kru pup which I did Rene never sent out the Kru pup. Months later he messaged me saying he had family issues and would send out Musa Red Kru in May 2025 when we approached May 2025 he said he was going to send me a large Musa Red Kru corm with fruit, but shipping has really gone up after covid if i could send him $500 that should cover it. I trusted Rene as i had traded with him in the past. Rene didn't send Musa Red Kru out in 2025 saying his wife had cancer. I believed him and said send it out May 2026. We are now in June 2026. He was messaging me last month saying he was going to send Musa Red Kru out and didn't. I said to him i have had enough, if my Musa Red Kru that I have paid $570 has not been shipped out by end of May I will be reporting him on Bananas.org in June. Wow!!! Shipping to the UK is expensive. I've been asked many times to ship to the UK & EU but the time it takes to do the customs paperwork at the post office was crazy, now I find out the costs are even crazier.
Hopefully this issue will get resolved to your satisfaction. Quote:

Shipping has gone up a lot since covid, this hobby is a great past time, for myself and to yourself, also to many others on this forum, there are a lot of Varieties that are very difficult to get hold of now that were not, back in 2008, when I joined this forum. I'm sure myself and others wouldn't have issues paying for shipping costs, if you shipped international. Last edited by mushtaq86 : 06-06-2026 at 03:14 PM. |

KU Leuven in Belgium has just about every banana plant in the world and they're probably all free for the asking. It's a Catholic University so they probably accept donations. I get most of my banana plants from the USDA for free and in turn give them varieties they don't have.
