My understanding is that Gros Michel, Cocos, and Highgate (and probably others that I don't know about) are members of the Bluefields group.

Like how DC, GN, and Williams are members of the Cavendish group.

Close. They are all members of the Gros Michel subgroup.

The main thing that distinguishes the different cultivars in the Gros Michel subgroup is their height.

I agree! Mine is so slow I'm about to pull my hair out over it. Thankfully I have some other varieties that are much vigorous and cold hardy too.

Yes I have seen that quote before. I just didn't fully understand what they meant behind it. I thought it was more about the cold tolerance. The only time I saw it grow really fast was last August/September when it is our most hot and humid time of year. It seemed like my other bananas slowed down a little during the more extreme heat, but the GM couldn't get enough of it. I've only had this plant for less than a year but I will have to see if this is a trend. I night end up replacing it if this keeps up. I want fruit!!!!!

I have a few GM I am growing in Southern California and they seem to be growing very slowly for me as well. Some of my other varieties are doing much better.

i just put 14 of these in the ground i can see about shipping overseas. i bought them from a villager here 10 plants in size from 4 ft to ten foot for 25 dollars.

and there is a supplier here that ships to usa with all certs i have never bought anything from him so dont know rep.

I Pulled My GM From Its Current Location Because Its Slow Growth Habit But I Did Save The Corm , And It is Sprouting New Pups ..

Mine was growing pretty well but was knocked to the ground this winter. I really want a dwarf version since it will be easier to protect. I have a Veinte Cohol that I have been successfully protected in the ground with blankets and it got down to 22 one night.
