I am looking to find some fertilizer for my banana plants. Can anyone suggest something? I had bought some from the guy from Homestead but I’m out of it. Thanks in advance.

review our forum wiki fertilizer info. Info:Fertilizer - Bananas Wiki
I use a trip balanced fertilizer (10-10-10) for garden vegetables and supplement potassium as needed. So that would be a about 10lbs (10-10-10) plus 1 lb of potassium sulfate per plant during the growing season. Look in your local garden centers or big box stores. |

Someone on here sells banana fuel. People say it works well. I got some 12-0-12 from walmart.com for everyday fertilizing and pushing plants, a few bags of black kow every year and some extra muriate of potash for when it's flowering and making fruit. The manure gives it enough phosphorus,,,
For some reason, whenever I use sulfate of potash my plants completely stop growing for a few days to a week or more... MOP doesn't do it, only SOP...

Always room for one more. |

I just bought 2 bags of 10-10-10 and a bag of Murate of Potash (0-0-60; $14). The store was out of Potassium sulfate so i have to be careful of the chloride. Anyway, bananas and grapes will be fertilized today. ... The bananas got a bunch of chicken sh-- (do do) about 3 weeks ago.

Speaking of fertilizer
I got a nice counterfeit Blue Java from Wellspring Gardens (yep) and they gave me this simply adorable little packet of fertilizer. Since I shouldn't water it too much, how do I apply it. Should I let it drain? Or leave it on a plate until it sucks the fertilizer water? |

Let it Drain! ... Elevate the pot above the saucer so the hole will not be in the water.
Small potted plant do not take up much water. 1/2 to 1 cup of water every 10 to 14 days should be ok. But only if the soil is near dry. ... Misting the plant 2 or 3 Xs every day will give it the needed water. |
