chris for you being banned to the back and side yard.....i think your yard is beautiful. i would spend more time there then in anyother part of the yard. now all you need is a tiki torch a chair and a little drink with an umbrella in it. and maybe some steel drums. lol!!! when my yard grows up i want it to look just like yours!

The galleries on the UKOasis site (now Growing on the Edge) was inspiration for me. Those backyard gardens are truly impressive. I'm really going for the tropical rainforest/jungle look...as opposed to the tidy landscaped yard with tropical looking plants. Since palms or tree ferns are nearly impossible to grow in my climate without highly involved protection, I try making use of any hardy plants. That's why you'll see common plants like hostas and Jerusalem artichokes in my tropical looking garden. Last year was only year two of my backyard makeover. Just wait until my tropical looking trees and bamboo grow larger! ![]()

Here's how my backyard looks this summer, looking uphill from the 2nd story of my home. From the bottom, follow up the path 3 or 4 turns to the bright gate in the left-to-right chain link fence. My orchard is beyond that gate, continuing uphill to those faintly visible banana leafs near the top of the picture just left of center.

Just thought I would post a few pics of the backyard from this year. Can't wait to see what it looks likes in Septmeber. Don't get me wrong, I am loving it now, just like to see everything "maxed" out here...
Thanks for looking, and if anyone is down this way, let me know and stop by for a glass of tea and some relaxation... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

All of these pictures of this year are breathtaking!!
Daen what you've done with vertical landscaping in a small area is like a picture out of a magazine! And I bet it smells wonderful too! Deb |
