My basjoo are doing their thing again this year, so very pleased!

Congrats on the flower.

None of my plants are showing any interest in flowering and if they do it is when the grow season is over.

Hope you get some bananas.

Thanks mate, last year I had a few very tiny fruit due to the short season here but still happy to get there.

Nice looking bloom. Next time toss the little guys into your strawberries and cream for a lovely 'essence de pelure de banane.'

] Where did you pick them up from? also whats your winter care for them?

What species name variety whatever you call them .

Musa basjoo is a cold/cool hardy plant used mostly as an ornamental landscape plant in cooler areas. Plant is used as a source of fiber for manufacturing in a few cultures.

Treated as a die back heavily mulched perennial in freezing areas.

I cut mine back to about 5ft, wrap in frost protection fleece and finally cover with a one tonne boulders bag tied up loose, I've put in the ground two Musa itinerans forma india this year...we will see what happens as I have a couple of back up plants, Musa sikkimensishas been ok treated like the basjoo for a couple of years!

the ones i got from the guy in texas where supposed to be real blue java is Bosjoo . the one he sent as a gift is also a Bosjoo. i am upset about it but what can ya do a crook is a crook and bananapups.org is a Pro at being a liar

I tried orinoco in ground a few seasons back that actually came back in the spring but we had a mild winter and spring then. I don't have a sikki to try.

The last few grow seasons had early spring temperature swings in the low teens which culled many of the larger tender spring basjoo corms and even some borderline landscape perennials too.

Currently soil temps are avg. 86☼ with the ambient temperature of 95☼ with June and July the most rainfall in history for the area at 21 inches.

Fertilizer used is 19-19-19- with a 46-0-0 spring boost.
