It looks like the leaf stems are mostly closed and I think the only color is some dead material. I would guess this is due to the cold weather as it is late in the season.

Jose263 - The p-stem on my largest plant is 9ft tall.

Last year I chopped every single stem down to about 6 inches above the ground and, coincidence or not, this is the first year of the 3 years I've been at my house that I've actually seen the banana plants produce.

I'm not too familiar with the annual maintenance required or how I can best help my plants to produce.

We had a great winter and warm season for nanas this year. You can cut the pstems that bloomed. I usually leave aboput 3-4 feet of those stems some say the mat continues to get nourishment as it decomposes. If you have pstems that haven't bloomed try to keep as much height as you can and protect them from freezing this winter - if you can manage that you will have nanas in early summer - there are several posts in the cold hardy forum about putting your nanas to bed/sleep for the winter.

Good luck and happy growing.
Jose
