We moved here after spending over 3 years in the Pastaza province of Ecuador. While living in Ecuador, we would buy maquenos from the Sunday market in Puyo. They quickly became our favorite variety. We planted a plant in our backyard down there and it did surprisingly well. Since moving to FL, we have been on the hunt for a maqueno plant to grow here.

In addition to bananas, we grow many sub-tropical and tropical fruit trees/plants, have 30 pastured hens, and 5 honeybee hives.

We are joining the group to learn about other varieties and hopefully find a source for a maqueno plant.

Thanks for posting a picture. Reminds me of my Pisang Raja. You should think about posting it in the Banana Identification section. I would be curious what some of the seasoned veterans think.
