Hello from SouthWest Florida!
Hey I hear it's pretty easy to grow bananas down here! My family and myself being newer to the south and tropics are slowly gathering up our knowledge of all things south Florida. I'm still working out the tomato, peppers, strawberries and all planting schedule and such. So on the other hand these sub tropic and native plants are very exciting yet take some time to get established. I have a interest in growing some Coconut Palms, Dragon Fruit, Aloe Vera, Star Fruit and other Citrus in my yard. I work from home in my business is in risk management dealing with identity theft restoration, legal and regulatory issues at http://OneFlatMonthyFee.com, My wife is a special education teacher and we love to bring our plantings, composting, worms, bees and beneficial insects in to the classroom. In addition we have an extreme love of the beach and everything beach.

You might be surprised at how difficult vegi gardens can be here. The soil is worthless, the seasons are inverted, to much rain in the summer causes stuff to rot and mold and then there is the bugs. Tropical plants do well but they are different and take some figuring out. Sunny almost every morning though, ya got to love that! Going out to seed some tomatoes and peppers now (mid September) in some newly prepared raised beds.
