I've been lurking around this site for the past few months, but I think I'm ready to say hello and start sharing my new hobby. When I pick up new hobbies, I tend to go "all in" with whatever it is. I think this will be no different.
I started with 1 Ice Cream banana plant, on a whim, back in May. As of this writing in mid September, I'm up to 11 plants. In addition to the Ice Cream, I now have what I'm calling a generic cavendish - found at Lowes one day, a dwarf red, Grand Nain, Black Thai, Kokopo, and Saba. A few of them started pups, and I've successfully started new plants with them. I've decided to line my yard with them in large planting beds to give both some privacy from the neighbors and a tropical feel to my little coastal area. I should be able to make 2-3 rows of them on each side ~10-15' wide, and about 50-60 feet long. Possibly more... It's going to take a lot of bananas to fill that space. I'm always willing to take any suggestions on different varieties that can thrive here and help fill in the area. I'm trying to read about all the best practices that have given others success and trying them out. I've even started doing different things for some plants to gauge success vs failure (or less success). Hopefully, I'll be able to share some of those with others through time. I plan on taking lots of pictures and doing some videos for the youtubers out there to see how things progress. I look forward to what's next! Pretty close for sure. My daughter plays music at Top Dawg right in your hood. Let me know if you want a nice namwah pup.

Welcome! I also go all in when I'm in to something. Share any youtube videos if you do make them!
