Hi I am new to this and hope that it would be very informative. I am a preacher and a farmer and is interested in seaweed extract and how well does it perform, I have never used it no no of anyone that has so hence I dont no what to expect. So if anyone out there has first hand knowledge of the product and its use, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks

Re: Growmore Seaweed extract
Welcome to the board bahamafarmer! I have tried seaweed extract in the past but I did not get the kind of results I expected. However, it did provide the necessary nutrients to the plants. I find that fish emulsion such as Alaska works much better. Perhaps you will get a different opinion from other members here. All the best.

In your area I would guess that uncomposeted barn sweepings would serve well....

Welcome Bahamafarmer!
I believe Richard (Frost) uses this Growmore Seaweed Extract a lot. If he doesn't chime in soon, you might want to PM him and ask him about it. I believe he even uses it with his "fertigator". |

Welcome bahamafarmer, seaweed extract should be thought of more as a plant"insurance policy" rather than a main fertilizer. Seaweed contains virtually every micro nutrient known to man(at least according to Eliot Coleman) so what it does is make up for nutrients needed in very small quantities lacking in your primary fertilizer. I use it as well as adding straight seaweed to my compost or as a top dressing tilling it in every fall. Alaska fish fertilizer 5-1-1 is a great nitrogen source in combination with this for added green growth. I use it by the Gallon. Still you will need a balanced fertilizer if your goal is flowering and bananas. Hope this helps.
