As far as propagation techniques without destroying the mother plant, separating pups and planting seeds are probably the best ways I know of. Seeds wound necessitate that the species does in fact produce them and that the plant fruits. In this case, the mother plant is going to die afterwards anyway (plants only fruit once, then die to the roots or are replaced by pups). Hope that helps!
