I think most people here are aware that the underlying software of a site like this is "pre-fabricated" -- the owner of the site chooses a program with appealing features, and then customizes it to whatever purpose. The member "rating" system based on number of posts comes with the package Jarred is using, and nearly all packages one might consider. And basically, we all discovered that we don't need a member rating system!
Not all web sites have been so fortunate. A friend of mine owns a web site which is working very hard at defining who gives good advice, poor advice, and so on. Its a sad state of affairs and I'm not sure they will ever "get it". Here at Bananas.org, there is tremendous good will. Must be all that potassium.
