I assumed that would be your answer because people that have weevils realize at most they are only a minor nuisance. Banana mats growing in the wild can produce huge bunches of fruit for hundreds of years while coexisting with weevils. Most of the nonsense is based on the fear of the unknown, people that have no experience with weevils think they're catastrophic. I'm sure there's an app to prevent weevils.

Weevils aren't really attracted to rotting banana parts although the adults because they are nocturnal can be found during the day in old pseudostems to avoid the sun and predators.
Weevils are attracted to living banana parts because that's their food source and where they lay their eggs. If they lay their eggs in a freshly cut pseudostem, it will rot and the weevil will die before it can reach maturity.
