I'm on the gulf coast and the eye of Cat1 / Tropical Storm Nicholas went through my area.
Some of my neighbors fences were broken and a young tree was completely uprooted down the street from me. My potted bananas were flung all over the place as well as a bunch of other things but they're ok.
Miraculously all my in ground bananas survived with no broken P-stems but they all sustained damage with several broken leaves and major leaf shreddage.
Of course we have had much stronger hurricanes in the gulf and it's only a matter of time before we get one.
I just want to have 100lb corms for each banana by then!
Anyway, I actually received an amazing surprise which I'll show at the end.
Here are some pictures.
My last shade cover got destroyed but I was going to remove it soon anyway.
Thankfully it didn't damage the nanners
I thought my Tall Orinocos would snap but I guess since there are so many clumped together they helped protect each other
Major shreddage
Seems my Orinocos provided decent wind protection for my Variegated Florida which sustained minimal damage
Even my Super Dwarf which is right next to the house got all shredded up
So here is the good news... I've been trying to germinate some seeds and I kept some small starter pots outside and this little guy miraculously stayed put during the storm and germinated the next day!!!
It's my miracle seedling
