Question Does pot size make a difference in height of plant?

Does the size of the pot make a difference in the height of a plant? What I mean is if I were to plant a 12” or smaller plant in a gallon pot make the height taller as it grows than if I had used a bigger gallon size? In the sense that a bigger pot might make it smaller in height. I knew you’re supposed to make sure the pot is big enough for the corm and the roots to grow. So I pretty much use bigger pot sizes than maybe what the plant needed. Should I use smaller size pots for all my plants? Even for the tall plants as well? Thoughts/ideas? Any help would be appreciated!
