Tobacco hornworms are a HUGE problem (no pun intended) here for tomatoes, if one is growing organically. Since mine are on a trellis this year, I'm going to try draping with bird netting to keep the hawk moths from being able to land. I have an amazing UV flashlight though, if they do emerge. Those suckers glow green.
Ever notice how in nature, a lot of things to stay away from or otherwise identify, glow under UV light? Scorpions, porcupine quills, rattlesnake tails etc.?

Many animals see UV light, and these things glow as both a danger sign and a potential food source.
