He lives in Cornwall, which is in the southwest of the UK. It gets warm and can cope with some tropical plants. He is close to an estuary but I do not think that he will get sea spray.

They look well established.
It has been raining buckets (rivers bursting banks where i live) and there was no standing water and so I assume that the plants are in relatively well draining ground.
There are well grown pups.
I am assuming that they have not been fed for some time.
I wonder if he should cut off the leaves which are clearly at the end of their time, feed it and separate out some of the pups.
I am assuming its a cold hardy plant probably basjoo?

Looks like a great garden space at the end of a patio of sorts.
With a little landscape cleanup and thinning of the banana plants things should look back to original proportion.
A small banana plant was probably planted to add the tropical feel to the space but as time passed it has become the invasive plant in the garden.
The garden should clean up very well for your friend.
