Darn, my "post" didn't post. I'll summarize a bit and add some other junk.
Get thee to the Member Intro section and post about you even if it's a C&P of the above. Why? Because even nasty, mean members might welcome you. Nice ones may not write a message but we will click to say we're glad we've outed another musaphile. And doing that will let your neighbors (you have lots in CA) know where you are and your situation.
I don't suppose you'd like to bring pups to a day long meet up in FL if I organize it? I know you can't take anything botanical back home so no SDCs for you but we could fill your belly with FL food (I haven't a clue what that is--I'll probably bring Yankee coleslaw or a green lentil salad) and, if I'm involved in the orchestration/planning, promise you a meet/greet with the local Sheriff's department. (Sheriff's in MD had no real power except in their "burgs". Here is very much different.)
